![]() As for local media, I hope Mede8er release a native 4k device and not some android clone as I never want to use an android device for playing local media again. When I make the move to 4k, I will likely upgrade my Roku's to the newer versions that handle 4k. I have learnt that having an all-in-one device just doesn't work. I now have 3 Roku's for online streaming, and 2 Mede8ers for local media. Also, some files wouldn't play that used to on the Mede8er. ![]() No matter what I did, I couldn't mount an external usb drive larger than 2TB. Trying to play local media became another headache. On the apps that would work, streaming buffered and stuttered. ![]() Also, some steaming apps wouldn't run on the custom firmware, others picked up the device was rooted. All I can say is that it was an awful experience.įor starters, Netflix on most Android devices only support 480p with no 5.1 sounds. I bought a gbox mx2 (android box) 2 years ago with the intention of using it for both playing local media and streaming online media.
